Looks Back

This is the end of another year in university . It was the second year I spent at the university. I got lot of  things that I learn during the year.

As a Software Engineering student like to use laptop always. So some essential things I missed. But I gather some from PPd. PPd showed me to the way.

In our PPd session we had a new activity in every week. So Thankful to Madam Sarasi to give us memoryful thing in every week. We had some interesting activities such as making paper rockets,How to write cv,story writing, expertise, self reflaction, trust walk etc.

As well as we got a real experience in WSO2. There was a session of explaining about the technical writing. It was really helpful for our carrier life. And there was a session about emerging new technology trends as well. It also very useful.

From all sessions during the year, I got lot of things to my  life. So thanks again Madam Sarasi to her guidence for us.

Trust Walk

In one of PPd session, We did that amazing activity called "Trust Walk".The Trust Walk Activity is an effective team building activity involving leadership and building trust, as blindfolded participants must rely on instructions given to them in order to avoid various obstacles.

When we done it as follows. This is a pair activity. We were asked to find a partner. Madam told us to cover the eyes of the partner. The other one in pair can give instructions to the  partner about the things, paths, and turn etc. Both of players in team played the role of a listener and an instructor. This activity had two rounds where the listener of the first round became the instructor in the second round.

I think we got following advantages in doing this activity.

  • Communication
  • Creative thinking
  • Leadership
  • Risk awareness
  • Trust

How to write CV

CV is an abbreviation for Curriculum Vitae. If a job advertisement asks for a CV, that's a hint that the employer expects a great deal of life experience and accomplishments, including education, original research, presentations.

These are the best topics to include your CVs.

  • Picture: Your good looking photo but it's not a fancy one.
  • Contact Information: At the top of your CV, include your name and contact information (address, phone number, email address, etc.). Outside of the US, many CVs include even more personal information, such as gender, date of birth, marital status, and even names of children. Unless you are applying to a job outside of the United States, there's no need to include that information.

  • Education: This may include college and graduate study. Include the school attended, dates of study, and degree received.
  • Honors and Awards: Feel free to list your dean's list standings, departmental awards, scholarships, fellowships, and membership in any honors associations.

  • Thesis/Dissertation: Include your thesis or dissertation title. You may also include a brief sentence or two on your paper, and/or the name of your advisor.

  • Research Experience: List any research experience you have, including where you worked, when, and with whom. Include any publications resulting from your research.

  • Work Experience: List relevant work experience, including non-academic work that you feel is related. List the employer, position, and dates of employment. Include a brief list of your duties and/or accomplishments.

  • Skills: List any relevant skills you have not yet mentioned so far, like language skills, computer skills, administrative skills, etc.

  • Publications and Presentations: List any publications you have written, co-written, or contributed to. Include all necessary bibliographic information. You should also include any pieces you are currently working on. Include papers you presented at conferences and/or associations: list the name of the paper, the conference name and location, and the date.

  • Professional Memberships: List any professional associations to which you belong. If you are a board member of the association, list your title.

  • Extracurricular Activities: Include any volunteer or service work you have done, as well as any clubs or organizations to which you have belonged. You can also include any study abroad experiences here if you have not already mentioned them.

Self Reflction

Self Reflection is time spent in analyzing our own character and beliefs. As we go through our busy lives, we seldom spend time trying to understand our various actions. Self Reflection is a solution to enrich us and give a deeper meaning to our life.

Benifits of self reflection

1. Strengthening Emotional Intelligence

When taking time to self-reflect you are looking inwards. This helps to build two components to emotional intelligence: self-awareness and self-regulation. Self awareness gives you the ability to understand your emotions, strengths, weaknesses, drives, values and goals, and recognize their impact on others. Self-regulation involves the ability to control or redirect your disruptive emotions and impulses and adapt to changing circumstances. Building these skills will improve both your personal life and professional role as a leader.

2. Acting With Integrity

Becoming clear on your core values will help to strengthen your integrity and lead you to better decisions. Our integrity is often put to the test during stressful times. Taking time to review your key decisions and actions in the recent past and evaluating them against your core values is critical to acting with integrity. Doing this consistently can solidify your values and make the decision making process easier in the future.

3.  Being More Confident

Confidence is crucial for managing a busy, complex life that includes meeting career, family, community and self needs. It helps in effective communications, decision-making, and influence building. The more your reflect on your strengths and how you can build upon them the more confident you will be in the future.  We become more confident in where our strengths lie and how to close the gaps in our areas of weakness.

Also tthat day our PPd lecturer Madam Sarasi told us to do some curricular activities in our free time to gain above benifits.

Story Writting

In this week we got a new activity from Madam Sarasi. First we were divided into 3 groups and asked to face back to the white board.A marker pen was given for every group and we should write a story but a group member can only write one word at a time.

One by one in a group went to the board and write the story. There were four rounds.

After all rounds completed, we read story when we wrote in board. But after our madam explained about how communication matters to a work, we realized what was wrong with the stories. It was an amazing activity for us.
