This is the end of another year in university . It was the second year I spent at the university. I got lot of things that I learn during the year.
As a Software Engineering student like to use laptop always. So some essential things I missed. But I gather some from PPd. PPd showed me to the way.
In our PPd session we had a new activity in every week. So Thankful to Madam Sarasi to give us memoryful thing in every week. We had some interesting activities such as making paper rockets,How to write cv,story writing, expertise, self reflaction, trust walk etc.
As well as we got a real experience in WSO2. There was a session of explaining about the technical writing. It was really helpful for our carrier life. And there was a session about emerging new technology trends as well. It also very useful.
From all sessions during the year, I got lot of things to my life. So thanks again Madam Sarasi to her guidence for us.

Trust Walk
In one of PPd session, We did that amazing activity called "Trust Walk".The Trust Walk Activity is an effective team building activity involving leadership and building trust, as blindfolded participants must rely on instructions given to them in order to avoid various obstacles.
When we done it as follows. This is a pair activity. We were asked to find a partner. Madam told us to cover the eyes of the partner. The other one in pair can give instructions to the partner about the things, paths, and turn etc. Both of players in team played the role of a listener and an instructor. This activity had two rounds where the listener of the first round became the instructor in the second round.
I think we got following advantages in doing this activity.

How to write CV
CV is an abbreviation for Curriculum Vitae. If a job advertisement asks for a CV, that's a hint that the employer expects a great deal of life experience and accomplishments, including education, original research, presentations.
These are the best topics to include your CVs.
These are the best topics to include your CVs.
- Picture: Your good looking photo but it's not a fancy one.
- Contact Information: At the top of your CV, include your name and contact information (address, phone number, email address, etc.). Outside of the US, many CVs include even more personal information, such as gender, date of birth, marital status, and even names of children. Unless you are applying to a job outside of the United States, there's no need to include that information.
- Education: This may include college and graduate study. Include the school attended, dates of study, and degree received.
- Honors and Awards: Feel free to list your dean's list standings, departmental awards, scholarships, fellowships, and membership in any honors associations.
- Thesis/Dissertation: Include your thesis or dissertation title. You may also include a brief sentence or two on your paper, and/or the name of your advisor.

Self Reflction
Self Reflection is time spent in analyzing our own character and beliefs. As we go through our busy lives, we seldom spend time trying to understand our various actions. Self Reflection is a solution to enrich us and give a deeper meaning to our life.
Benifits of self reflection
1. Strengthening Emotional Intelligence
When taking time to self-reflect you are looking inwards. This helps to build two components to emotional intelligence: self-awareness and self-regulation. Self awareness gives you the ability to understand your emotions, strengths, weaknesses, drives, values and goals, and recognize their impact on others. Self-regulation involves the ability to control or redirect your disruptive emotions and impulses and adapt to changing circumstances. Building these skills will improve both your personal life and professional role as a leader.
2. Acting With Integrity
Becoming clear on your core values will help to strengthen your integrity and lead you to better decisions. Our integrity is often put to the test during stressful times. Taking time to review your key decisions and actions in the recent past and evaluating them against your core values is critical to acting with integrity. Doing this consistently can solidify your values and make the decision making process easier in the future.
3. Being More Confident
Confidence is crucial for managing a busy, complex life that includes meeting career, family, community and self needs. It helps in effective communications, decision-making, and influence building. The more your reflect on your strengths and how you can build upon them the more confident you will be in the future. We become more confident in where our strengths lie and how to close the gaps in our areas of weakness.
Also tthat day our PPd lecturer Madam Sarasi told us to do some curricular activities in our free time to gain above benifits.

How to face an interview
After long period of semester finally, we had an important session in ppd lecture. It is How to face a interview. It is very important us to face interview in coming year.Interview is very easy use this following steps.
1. Know The Company
This goes without saying! This is what any employer expects from you and they aren’t wrong! Research well about the company you are applying for and know their aim, mission, vision, values and functions. Using this information in your answers will create the right impression in front of your employer. The research is the first and foremost task that you need to do before appearing in any interview.
2. The Introduction of yourself

‘Tell me about yourself’ is every employers favorite question! So be confident in your approach while you tell them about yourself.
3. What Can You Offer?
Thoroughly know the job title you are applying for, the responsibilities and why you are fit for the job. Remember a wide specturm of opportunities awaits you. so, for every point that you make, try to have an instance where you have used that quality.
4. Act Confident Without Hesitation
This can be quite a task considering it’s the first time you are sitting for an interview but you have to pull off this lie. You have to act confident and make the employer feel that you have it all together and perfectly fit the job. Only confidence can get you there without much hassle.
5. Never Lie In Your Resume
Lying can backfire! The person sitting in front of you has ample experience of interviews and can easily know when you are faking it. So keep it real and only write in your CV, what you have actually achieved.
6. Dress Well
"Job interview prepration" is not as formidable as it sounds. No one can stress enough on the fact that in case of an interview, ‘The first impression is the last impression.’ Put on your best clothes (formal of course!) and look neat when going for an interview for the first time or otherwise.
7. Have Your Questions Ready
Be observant and notice what’s going around you. Once the interviewer is done asking you questions, it is going to be your turn. Return the favor! Ask if you have any questions about the company and the role they are offering you. Just make sure they don’t come across as offensive or rude.
8. Be Eager To Learn
It’s okay to not know everything! If you get stuck on some questions and don’t know what to say, politely let the interviewer know. But also make it a point to ask what the answer was once they are done with all the questions. This shows your eagerness to learn, which is often considered useful from an employer point of view.
9. Deep Breathe
More than anything else, it’s the anxiety that ruins most interviews. Just before entering the room, take a few deep breaths and relax your nerves. Trust me, It always helps!
10. Thank You Mail
Whether or not you are hired, make sure you send the employer a thank you mail after the interview telling them how glad you are to get this opportunity and how you hope to get selected for the same.
So get going and all the best for your job interview preparation!

Finally....
When I was came to University , I don't know about we have a session to improve our skills. I think we work only with computers but my thought is a wrong one. After the attending university ,i know about the subject called PPD (Personal Progress Development). In first day , we think this is unnecessory thing to us and also this is time wasting thing. After few session we can understand values of this session. We enjoy some of PPD activities
I think , i gained from PPD session is blog post writing. I didn't write any blog post before coming university. But in this session, I know How to create a blog, How to write a blog page and also how to maintain it. Also we can know about some HTML coding methods. After the blog creation, We wrote every activities doing in PPD session as a blog post .
These following activities we did in PPD session. We gained Leadership qualities, Communication skills, Decision making talents, Creativity, Planing skills, Public speaking, Presentation skills, Time management, Team work and etc. These are the essential things to our future life.
** My first Blog post is "What is PPD ?.. ".I search that in Internet and write it. Also I include importance of this session in that heading . But i don't think , we can gain that importance in this session. but it is a wrong thought .In now i know the importance of that one.
** Second blog post is "Paper tower challenge..". Madam Sarasi said us to built a tower using paper .Madam gave us to papers to build that one. Winners of this activity who built the tallest tower .We gained importance of proper plan and how to work in a team.
** Third blog topic is "What we learnt from PPD Session".Briefly introduction of importance of PPD session .Get information using Internet .
** Fourth blog post is "University of Kelaniya". That day we go arround the university and take photos. After that we give introductions about that places in the blog post.In this session I also know about the some places in university before i didn't go.
** Fifth blog post is "Lava river challenge & Stand on Paper".Lava river challenge is ,we have to cross the lava river by using paper plates. We coldn't put legs without plates in river and we must keep all the paper plates with human touch .We loss the human touch, we will loss that plate. It is team game .We learnt from that How imporatance of planning,How to work with a team.
Stand of paper game is everyone in the team to keep their feet on the paper and have no part of their body touching the floor. The whole group should stand on the paper to the command without standing out of the paper. After the well finish, the paper would be folded into half and again doing the game. The game continues for few rounds until all groups fails.
** The sixth blog post is "Life goals ". It is a mind map about "Life Goals". We make a mind map on our future goals under three categories. We do a presentation about it. This activity we clearly know about the future goals .
** Final blog post is "Out Bounding training at Naval Camp....". We went to the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee for two days. First day we do some activities ,fire camp and a talent show. Second day we go through the forest and visited the Navy Museum.
Out Bounding training at Naval Camp....

PPD lecturer Ms. Sarasi had organised a new event for both batch of software engineering students studied in University of Kelaniya. It was a out bound training program. I think 70 of students participated that in both batch and 3 of academic staff including with Madam Sarasi. We started to go to Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee to get new experience at about 3.00am in University of Kelaniya. We had our breakfast on the way.We got a batch photo near a tank on the way. We reached the main gate of Navy Camp-Trincomalee at about 10 a.m.First they gave us place to change our clothes suitable for activities that we are doing in their. After that we got our lunch in Naval Institute. Then A one of naval officer introduced about the program very briefly. We were separated into four groups to start our program. They gave name for each group. I was in group "Bravo".
As our first activity ,we had to go through a wood frame without any touching in one side to other side. It can participate only 8 members on a group. Seven members of the our group sucessfully did that task.

In our second activity ,Ten people from the group were participate in this game. One is the leader and other nine are the players .In this task we had a pass a small teak ball through a small pipe in leader's order. There was a destination to where the teak ball should be passed. But our group could not reach the final line within the time that naval officers gave us.
As our third activity , They gave us a plastic pipe with some holes. We have to fill that pipe. It was the funniest game ever i was seen. We had to close one open end by keep that on one of our team members stomach. After we can close other holes by other team member's hand and we have to fill that by carrying water from sea by our hands and mouth. Our team completed the task with a least time.

In our fourth activity,It was volley ball game but something different. We had to pass the volleyball one side to another side using by "cama" .Four of the members of group pass the ball in leaders order and another member caught that in other side. It is not hard one burt different.
as our last activity , Itwas a tug-o-war. Though it was a common game. but it was very difficult in beach side.

All these task, We learn How to work with team, How to do something in leader's order, What is the importance of comunicate with others .
At about 6.00 pm we return to accommodation place and get ready for dinner in formal dress. After that we returned the same place and make a camp fire and do some activities like drama, singing songs and dance.after that we had our dinner and returned to the accommodation place.
In our secand day at Naval and Maritime Academy .
As the first day we were divided into four groups. Then the task was go through the forest by using compass and map. We start that session also leader's order. They taught us how to face unexpected situations can be happened in the jungle. At the destination we had our tea in beautiful beach side.
After that task we went to see Naval Museum. We can also get a knowleadge of boats and their technology in this place. also we got information about importance of trincomalee. In this session we also could see LTTE terrorist's boats and their own technology and other thing use in a war. We got our lunch in their and we finished our training session. After that we came back to University of Kelaniya at about 12.00 pm.
We got nice experience in that session. Also I thanks for all of the Naval Officers and Madam Sarasi to supply new experience for us...

barter puzzle
Last PPD session was an enjoyable session for us. First we were divided in to 3 groups by madam Sarasi. She was given a three pictures for three groups. We remember that picture. Then Madam said to leader to tear it in to 100 pieces. Then madam Sarasi took 10 pieces from each group and mixed them all and divided them into three groups. We had to make the picture with a given 45 minute by using pieces of picture .
So we decided to divide our group into subgroups to remake the picture. A one sub group solve front part, another sub group solve the bottom part, and other sub group solve the middle part. We search missing pieces in other group's pieces and exchange their missing one.
All team failed to win this session. but we learnt more from this activity. Some of them are , How to work with team , How to work with other teams , How to do something within given time , etc..

What we learnt from PPD Session
In My first topic I should talk about What is PPD..Now i mention about What i learnt from PPD session in our university life..
I think you also know about What is PPD?
I think you also know about What is PPD?
PPD means : aims to encourage an individual to become more self-aware and self-reliant and pay attention to their overall growth while planning for the future. Personal development plans can be applied to a wide range of contexts involving a career, education, relationship or for self improvement..
We can improve our communication skills, team work, creativity and etc in this PPD session and we can get many goals and actions in this session. Some of them are measurable, achievable, relevant ,time related, and desicion making. They are very useful for building our personality.
We can improve our communication skills, team work, creativity and etc in this PPD session and we can get many goals and actions in this session. Some of them are measurable, achievable, relevant ,time related, and desicion making. They are very useful for building our personality.
We improve our communication progress
We got chance to communicate with our friends in English. Because there are some Tamil and Foriegn students in our batch who can't speak sinhala.so we have to communicate in English with them in our PPD session. Also madam told us dont use sinhala in our PPd session and always talk with others using in English. Then we can improve our knowledge of English and how to communicate with others.
We improve our team working progress
In this session, we can build up good relationship between others. It is the best thing i get to my life .we do a drama, and paper tower challenge as a group work.We try to respect others and their ideas.we can improve our creativity and thinking. Also I learnt how to respect others idea and its valuable.
This is if we can get goals and actions in PPD Session..
Measurable : We need to know when we have succeeded. Therefore outline as precisely as possible what skills and knowledge wewill have acquired have when we have achieved your goal.
Measurable : We need to know when we have succeeded. Therefore outline as precisely as possible what skills and knowledge wewill have acquired have when we have achieved your goal.
Achievable : The goal should be achievable and within our capacity and constraints. we should not set ourself goals that are impossible or unrealistic to achieve.
Relevant : think to ourself, are these the right goals? Will they help we get to where we want to be?
Time related : ealistically consider how much time do we need to achieve our goal? Some goals can be achieved in the short-term, some may take a long time to achieve. Setting time related goals will be helpful in organising our time effectively and breaking down the goal to smaller elements. With long term goals milestones are extremely important to keep we motivated to achieve our longer term goal.
We can get many benifits in PPD session.. Some of them are mentioned in above the post..

Paper Tower Challenge
According to my point of view , We done it in our PPD session. It
is not a game. It is a marvelous challenge for Se guys. It is a group activity
which can be develop our soft skills without get in academic career .Leadership
skill, Speaking skill in others, time management and thinking skills are some
of them.
…Definition about paper tower challenge…
First, all of se guys divided by three groups by counting.in this
challenge. We were provided a gum tape twelve papers and a pair of scissors.
Then, the tower that we built in the given place outside of the class. Then we
have to build the tallest tower use in papers within the given 45 minutes. Madam
Sarasi told us discuss with guys in group to how to do that and make a plan for
it .Madam gave marks for the height, balance and rigidity of the tower.
All of us went outside and started to make the tower. Madam Sarasi told us
don't use “Sinhala” to speak. She wants to improve our speaking ability
in English. She walked from group to group watching our work and reminding to
speak in English. Finally all our groups make towers which were able to stand
on the ground.
…Problems that occurred & way of solving…
We were building the tower. Tower was increasing its height
eventually. After increasing the height of the tower for sometimes, we noted a
problem of the tower. It was bending towards the earth. We discussed each other and identified the issue. It was a simple theory. The weight point of the tower
is growing up because of the height of the tower. We thought about that and got
through it with a solution. We added
four legs to the tower and the legs were more heavy than the tower. We got the
weight point down with the help of this method. We made a small thing to fix at
the top of the tower, but unfortunately we were unable to fix it because of the balance problem and lack
of time. We worked hard to our paper tower challenge in to a successful one.
We clasped our responsibilities to get more advantages from the
limited time. We focused on our own task and got it very deeply and made a
early plan about the process of the job. When we face the problem of balance
losing we discussed about it selected the most successful and most quick
solution and implement it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we can’t do our
best.
…To our life through…
We got many tips from this task to our life. The main thing is
listening to the leader and following him. Listening to the other members is
also main thing I got to my life. We were able to make our job more creative
with it. Thinking creatively is also a good thing I added to my life. I learnt
that early preparing for a task is also a good habit. The awareness of deadlines
is also helped us to make our challenge successful.
